ECC Breaks Silence: Rev. Lucy Natasha Dismisses Rent Rumours Following Church Closure

NAIROBI – Following widespread online claims suggesting that Reverend Dr. Lucy Natasha Carmel shut down her church due to unpaid rent, the Empowerment Christian Church (ECC) has released an official statement dismissing the reports as malicious misinformation.

THE DIGITAL SHIFT: "In this age, people announce collapse faster than they verify vision."

According to the church's leadership, the closure of its physical worship venue at the Biashara Plaza Rooftop was neither sudden nor forced, but rather a carefully planned transition following the successful completion of a five-year lease agreement. Reverend Natasha, widely known as "The Oracle," assured congregants that the ministry is entering a new era of ownership and global digital reach.

Debunking the Eviction Rumours

The clarification comes amid growing concern over how quickly unverified narratives spread online, especially when it involves prominent church leadership.

Completion of a Five-Year Lease “After successfully completing a five-year lease at Biashara Plaza Building Rooftop, at the junction of Moi Avenue and Biashara Street, we officially closed our physical location at that venue,” the church confirmed in its statement on January 14, 2026.
Choosing Forgiveness Over Retaliation Addressing the viral rent rumours directly, Reverend Natasha maintained a pastoral stance. “To those spreading falsehoods, I choose forgiveness. To our sons and daughters, ministry partners, and friends: let us stand together as we step into this next level.”

From Renting to Ownership: The Masterplan

Far from collapsing, ECC claims the temporary lack of a physical building is actually a stepping stone toward a much larger infrastructural project.

The church leadership outlined their forward-looking strategy, shifting focus from paying rent in the CBD to acquiring their own property.

Sanctuary, TV Ministry & School “This decision is strategic and forward-looking. As a ministry, we are trusting God to secure our own permanent place—land that will host a church sanctuary, a television ministry, and a school. This step is about ownership, legacy, and long-term impact,” Natasha explained to her followers.
Continued Compassion Outreaches Despite the physical transition, the church assured the public that their charitable initiatives would not halt. “Our outreaches and compassion initiatives will continue, as we trust God for our own space. It is the beginning of something greater,” the General Overseer added.

The 'Mama Oracle' Global Digital Church

Reverend Lucy Natasha is no stranger to the online world, having met her husband, Prophet Carmel, via Instagram before their lavish 2022 wedding.

ECC aims to leverage its massive online presence to ensure continuity of worship without the limitations of a rented physical site.

"ECC is More Than a Building" Starting from Sunday, January 11th, all gatherings transitioned to digital platforms. “ECC is more than a building,” the statement read. “Our services continue fully ONLINE, and our global digital church reaches over 10 million people worldwide. Millions have been touched through our online services, and that impact continues.”

Public Support & Congratulatory Messages

Despite the initial wave of negative rumours, Natasha's official update sparked an outpouring of support across social media platforms.

Bilal Kimeu on Facebook: "I knew mama. You don't even need to come out and justify things. The pain of ministry is deeper than the depth of an ocean. But God is faithful and renews strength."
Joyce Pakade on Facebook: "Be strong and courageous as you push forward for a bigger vision. The mandate is already approved... You will possess your possession, Woman of God. No devil will stand on your way."
Kilelu Junior on Facebook: "I always thought such a great ministry should have obtained its permanent land, since it has millions of followers. Anyway, God's given time is always the best. Big up."
