The Spirit of Offense: Apostle Joshua Selman on How to Escape Satan's Deadliest Trap
Extracted By: Sona Religion Desk | Featured Guest: Apostle Joshua Selman
Focus: Spiritual Snare, Deliverance, Relationships, Great Peace
Worse Than Witchcraft: There is a spirit actively operating in churches, marriages, and businesses today that is more destructive than outright occultism. It is called the Spirit of Offense. In a deeply profound teaching, Apostle Joshua Selman exposes how the devil uses offense to paralyze the anointing, abort prophecies, and turn your closest destiny helpers into perceived enemies.
"Offense is a cancer that destroys men," Apostle Selman warned. "It is the root cause of lack of love among brethren." Shifting the perspective from mere human conflict to a calculated demonic strategy, he provided a powerful, actionable guide on how to protect your joy, secure your destiny, and walk in supernatural peace.
Phase 1: What Exactly is Offense?
To defeat an enemy, you must accurately define it. Apostle Selman traces the English word "offense" to its terrifying Greek origin to reveal its true spiritual nature.
Skandalizon: The Snare
The word offense comes from the Greek word Skandalizon, which literally translates to "a trap" or "a snare." An offended man is like a rat caught in a trap—unable to move forward, make a lasting impact, or manifest God's glory. It is not just an emotion; it is a demonic cage.
The Foundation of Offense
Selman defines offense as "an emotional state or response resulting from displeasure, hurt, anger, and outrage." But what triggers it? Disappointed expectations. The moment your expectations of a spouse, a pastor, a friend, or an employee are not met, the seed of offense is planted.
Phase 2: The Fruits of Offense
Offense is never a standalone spirit. It invites a deadly cohort of toxic emotions that physically and spiritually drain the believer.
Apostle Selman highlighted that many Christians are physically sick—battling high blood pressure and mysterious ailments—simply because they are housing the venom of offense.
Bitterness & Resentment
When offense is left to incubate, it produces bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness, hatred, and jealousy. "You find a 30-year marriage suddenly shred to pieces. Why? Offense stepped in," Selman noted. It blinds people to all the good someone has done, hyper-focusing only on the one wrong.
Self-Centeredness
Offense proves that a person is self-centered. It exposes a fragile ego and low self-worth. If your joy and identity are tied to how perfectly people treat you, you will remain a perpetual victim. God cannot commit real power to someone who is easily offended.
Phase 3: How Offense Steals Destiny
Perhaps the most terrifying revelation is how the devil uses offense to intercept miracles just before they arrive.
The John the Baptist Tragedy
Even great prophets can fall into this trap. John the Baptist, the man who heralded Jesus, was offended while in prison because Jesus didn't come to rescue him. Offense caused John to question his entire revelation: "Are you the coming one, or do we look for another?" Offense will make you doubt what God has already confirmed.
Chasing Away Destiny Helpers
Right when God sends a destiny helper to bless your life or ministry, Satan will provoke a situation to offend you. If you react out of that pain, you end up insulting and driving away the very person God sent to lift you. "Satan takes away destiny helpers through offense," Selman warned.
Phase 4: The Remedy for Offense
You must make a conscious, violent decision that nothing in this world will steal your joy or your peace.
Psalm 119:165
The scriptural key is found in Psalm 119:165: "Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them." You must step into a supernatural realm where, regardless of what people say, do, or fail to do, your peace remains untouchable.
Choose Joy Blindly
"Choose to be joyful regardless of your external environment," Selman urged. Do not wait for an apology. Release the person in your heart. Call off the resentment. You don't have to agree with what they did, but you *must* protect your spiritual atmosphere by actively dispensing love and forgiveness.
Protect Your Anointing
Release the Offender Today
If there is someone in your heart—a pastor, a spouse, a business partner—who has hurt you deeply, break the demonic trap today. Forgive them openly, bless them, and reclaim your spiritual power. Do not let Satan use your valid pain to abort your glorious destiny.
