The Spiritual Trap of Offense: How Satan Uses Your Pain to Steal Your Destiny
Extracted By: Sona Religion Desk | Featured Guest: Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams
Focus: Spiritual Warfare, Offense, Emotional Healing, Kingdom Keys
The Silent Enemy Within: Be very careful what you do when you are offended. When you are hurt and reacting out of pain, you unwittingly become a weapon in the hands of the enemy. In a powerful, prophetic session, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams breaks down the spiritual mechanics of offense, revealing why the devil desperately needs you to stay bitter.
"If you don't master that thing called offense, you can die prematurely," the Archbishop warned. Shifting the focus from the people who hurt us to the demonic agenda behind the hurt, he provided a strict, actionable formula for believers to navigate betrayal and disappointment. From the tragedy of Absalom to the hidden keys of peace, this is your blueprint for surviving Satan's ultimate trap.
Phase 1: Satan's True Desire
Referencing Jesus' warning to Peter in Luke 22:31 ("Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat"), the Archbishop highlighted that offense is an orchestrated spiritual attack.
The Sifting Process
Satan has a plan to destroy your life, but he cannot access your testimony until he gets you offended. "He cannot have your testimony until he gets you offended. When the enemy wants to destroy you, the first thing he does is get you offended—and get you out of the church or out of your calling," Duncan-Williams explained.
Phase 2: The Absalom Syndrome
To justify your pain, you will make decisions that carry severe, long-term consequences.
The Archbishop drew a powerful parallel to King David's son, Absalom, who harbored deep offense and resentment for four years without dealing with it.
The Danger of Making Decisions in Pain
"Whenever you are offended, don't make a decision," the Archbishop instructed. "You will always get it wrong. You will take decisions that later on will have serious consequences on you. Absalom died prematurely because he didn't know how to handle offense."
Leaving Your Post
Many believers shut down their lives because of hurt. They leave their churches, abandon their ministries, and badmouth their leaders. Years later, they are forced to reap the bitter consequences of decisions made while under the influence of an offended spirit.
Phase 3: Winning Behind The Scenes
Quoting Ephesians 6:12 ("For we wrestle not against flesh and blood..."), the Archbishop reminded the church that their true enemy is never a human being.
Stop Fighting Flesh and Blood
"You cannot fight my battles for me," he declared. "Some of my battles I don't fight. I let God fight it. I win them by time. I win them by endurance. I win them by longsuffering. I win them by patience. And I win by going behind the scenes."
Address the Cause, Not the Effect
Spiritual immaturity causes believers to react to the *symptoms* (what people say or do) rather than the *root cause* (the demonic spirit pulling the strings). If you don't check what is spiritually responsible for the conflict, you will destroy yourself fighting human vessels instead of the real adversary.
Phase 4: The Key to Great Peace
You cannot function in the Kingdom of God without an understanding of spiritual keys.
Great Peace Have They...
The Archbishop shared the ultimate biblical antidote to offense from Psalm 119:165: "Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them."
Mastering the Key
If you want to operate in great peace, prayer alone is not enough. You must cultivate the spiritual discipline and ability to master offenses. If you are easily controlled by offense, you will never access or enjoy the divine peace that passes all understanding.
Equip Your Spirit
Refuse to be a Victim
Do not allow Satan to use the people around you to hijack your destiny. Make a conscious decision today not to be hurt and not to be offended. Starve the enemy of the reaction he is desperately looking for.
