Worship Moments: What to Expect
Unlike the massive arena crowds of the annual ANOT concerts, this event is designed for depth, connection, and spiritual renewal.
The 7 Arts Theatre provides the perfect acoustic and atmospheric setting for "Worship Moments." It allows the audience to experience the nuances of Janet Manyowa's powerful vocals and the rich instrumentation of her band in a setting that feels both personal and profound.
A Journey Through Her Catalog
Attendees can expect a curated setlist that spans her decade-long career. From the breakthrough notes of Amazing God to the chart-topping power of Zadzisa, the soulful Nyasha neNgoni, and the latest releases from her 2024 album Worship Moments (Open Heavens) and the 2025 live project Grace Upon Grace.
The Making of Zimbabwe's Gospel Queen
Born Janet Rejoice Rudo Manyeza on March 18, 1985, in Chegutu, Zimbabwe, she was enrolled in music school by her parents at age ten. By 13, she had written her first song, Mubatsiri. After serving diligently in the Celebration Choir under Pastor Bonnie Deuschle, she broke onto the commercial scene in 2014.
Her debut single, Amazing God, a duet with Dr. Comfort Manyame, set the stage for her 2015 debut album, King of Glory. The project established her unique style—a blend of contemporary worship influenced by international acts like Hillsong and Tasha Cobbs, infused with deep Shona and English lyricism.
A hallmark of her career is the founding of A Night of Thanksgiving (ANOT). Usually held on New Year's Day at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC), it has grown into one of the most anticipated gospel events on the Zimbabwean calendar, consistently selling out the massive venue.
The 2026 edition, themed "Overflow," featured international stars like Nigeria's Ada Ehi and South Africa's Xolly Mncwango, proving her capacity to unite the continent through worship.
Anthems That Moved a Nation
With albums like Grateful (2018), Sounds of Victory (2020), and Nenyasha (2023), Manyowa has amassed a staggering collection of accolades. She has received over 40 nominations and won more than 20 major awards.
Major Accolades
- NAMA: Multi-time winner for Outstanding Female Musician (2017, 2019, 2025).
- ZIMA: Best Female Musician, Album of the Year (Sounds of Victory), and Best Contemporary Gospel.
- SABC Crown Gospel Awards: Won Best of Africa Song for Many Blessings in 2021, cementing her regional dominance.
- Star FM Music Awards: Gospel Song of the Year for Zadzisa.
The Accountant Behind the Artist
What makes Janet Manyowa truly exceptional is her ability to balance her calling with a robust professional career. She and her husband/manager, Munyaradzi, trained together as chartered accountants at Ernst & Young. She rose to become a finance manager in Harare while simultaneously building a music empire.
Leadership & Influence
She credits her corporate training for her ability to expertly manage the business side of her music. She serves as the Board Treasurer of the Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (ZIMURA) and was named among the 100 Most Influential Young Zimbabweans, as well as the 50 Most Inspirational Women by the Institute of Corporate Directors Zimbabwe.
A devoted mother of three (Matipa, Waishe, and Mufaro), she represents the ultimate modern role model for young Zimbabweans seeking to excel in both professional education and artistic passion.
